Loreanne Sistrunk Cowan is the heart and grit behind Urban Ruffneck K9 Training.
A proud member of the Cherokee Nation and lifelong animal lover, Loreanne’s roots run deep in the Oklahoma red dirt. She grew up on a small, working farm, raising everything from goats and chickens to hogs and hound pups—learning firsthand the power of trust, structure, and the unspoken bond between animals and humans.
That early connection shaped her lifelong devotion to understanding behavior, building trust, and communicating across species.
Animal husbandry skills only grew stronger over the years!
Before stepping into professional dog training, Loreanne spent years working as a veterinary technician and running her own successful pet sitting business. Her experience across both animal health and home care gave her a deeper understanding of canine behavior, stress triggers, and the emotional needs of dogs in and out of the home.
Grizzmo, Loreanne’s trusted training partner, wasn’t always the calm and confident dog clients know today. Adopted as a seven-month-old rescue struggling with severe anxiety after leaving his quiet country foster for the buzz of Oklahoma City, Grizzmo needed the same kind of guidance Loreanne now offers others. Through steady structure, patient leadership, and real-world exposure, she helped him transform. Today, Grizzmo plays an active role in training sessions, pack walks, and community outings—modeling calm, collected behavior and helping other dogs learn to navigate the world with confidence. He’s living proof that a calm dog isn’t born—they’re built.
Today, she brings all of that knowledge into every session—offering balanced, fear-free training rooted in real-life experience.
